Ice cream
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream Use one scoop per banana split (3 scoops total across flavors).
  • 1 scoop chocolate ice cream Drizzle with chocolate sauce over this scoop.

  • 0.5 cup whipped cream Top generously right before serving.
  • 2 tbsp chopped peanuts Sprinkle over the whipped cream.
  • 2 maraschino cherries Finish each sundae with a cherry.

Method

Assemble the banana split
  1. Slice each banana in half lengthwise and arrange in a long dish or split into two bowls.
  2. Place a scoop each of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream between the banana halves.
  3. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the chocolate scoop, strawberry sauce over the strawberry scoop, and crushed pineapple over the vanilla scoop.
  4. Top generously with whipped cream.
  5. Sprinkle with chopped peanuts and finish each with a maraschino cherry.
  6. Serve immediately while the ice cream is still cold and firm.

Notes

Pro tip: use a warm knife to slice bananas cleanly without squishing them. For best texture, keep bananas at room temperature only while assembling, then serve right away; leftovers don’t hold well because the ice cream melts quickly. Refrigerator storage is not recommended for quality, and freezing is not recommended. If you want a lighter option, swap in reduced-fat whipped cream and use low-sugar strawberry sauce.
