Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato

Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato combines creamy oatmilk with cinnamon apple flavor, then layers espresso on top for a marbled, café-style finish. Pour espresso over the back of a spoon to keep distinct layers, then stir lightly only when you’re ready to drink.

Ingredients

Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato
  • 1 cup oatmilk Use oatmilk for a creamy texture that froths lightly.
  • 2 shot espresso Brew fresh for the best crema and flavor.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar syrup Adds caramel notes similar to apple crisp.
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp apple extract or apple juice concentrate Start small; it’s strong and sweet.
  • 1 ice For serving.

Equipment

  • 1 espresso machine

Method

Flavor syrup base
  1. Whisk together the brown sugar syrup, cinnamon, and apple extract in the bottom of a glass until evenly combined, with no cinnamon streaks.
Build the layered macchiato
  1. Fill the glass with ice, leaving enough room at the top for the oatmilk and espresso layering.
  2. Pour the oatmilk over the ice and stir gently just enough to combine with the syrup base.
  3. Brew 2 shots of espresso using your espresso machine.
  4. Slowly pour the espresso over the back of a spoon on top of the milk to layer rather than mixing.
  5. Wait until the espresso settles into a marbled pattern, then stir only lightly to drink while the layers are still visible.

Notes

Pro tip: the spoon is what preserves the espresso layer—pour slowly and keep the espresso stream controlled. Store any leftovers covered in the fridge up to 24 hours; the layering will fade, but it’s still drinkable. Freezing isn’t recommended because espresso and milk don’t re-emulsify well after thawing. For a dairy-free swap beyond oatmilk, use another barista-style plant milk (like soy) for similar body.
